Hinduism - my thoughts

Yesterday i visited the Brahadeeswara temple and suddenly a thought struck me in lightning speed. How much time do i devote to learn something about my religion Hinduism? The reality struck me hard on my face.I found that i was beginning to forget the existence of something called religion. Born in India with a diversified religious background, how could i ignore this aspect of my culture rich country? So i thought the best way to eliminate my guilty conscience would be to share watever i know about Hinduism, wid my friends. The evolution of this religion dates back to many centuries. Religion was essential becoz it paved the way to streamline our thoughts towards a particular omnipotent, omniscient power which governs our existence. The ultimate term used to refer to this power is "GOD".Hinduism with its complex roots gave many forms to this ultimate power . A particular significance surrounds each of these diverse forms of god eg.,Brahma is depicted as the creator,Vishnu the protector and Shiva the destroyer(THE TRINITY) The hindu mythology is a treasure house which teaches the noble qualities of humanity, charity , kindness etc thro simple stories. The epics like The Ramayana , The Mahabharata etc depict the life skills which should be possessed and which should not be possessed.Hinduism live in its temples. This unique religion found many enthusiastic patrons in the form of kings who ruled different parts of our country and who embedded it in each of their architectural landmarks. The Bhagavad Gita is one book which deserves existence in each of our minds. Thus Hinduism is a complex and multi layered religion which has different stratas of human values imbibed in it.We must be proud of being one within this religion and spare some thought to realise its significance. We should never allow someone from a foreign country to make us realise the importance of our religion Hinduism. To sum up please devote some time to know about your religion friends. This is a humble request.
